CROSSWORD CLUE: His last book was “O’Hara’s Choice” SOLUTION: LEONURIS Done with [ ].   O'Hara's Choice was a good story wrapped around a history of The United States Marine Corp. Having read what i thought were ALL of Leon Uris novels, O'Hara's Choice has been a great surprise. Having served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict, this OHaras Choice LP book has a very good insight as to how the Marine Corps evolved and the struggles it went /5(40).

O'Hara's Choice was a quick read, and I suppose reasonably entertaining, but it never seemed to get off the ground and teach me anything. I have loved Uris's works for the same reason I love James Michener--they entertain me with a good story and interesting characters while providing me with some good solid background knowledge on some area of /5.

After the Civil OHaras Choice LP book, stalwart warriors struggle to keep the Marine Corps alive. Their one hope may lie in Zachary O'Hara, the son of their hero, Paddy.

But Zachary is haunted by a secret - one that may force him to choose between a career in the Corps or a life with a woman who fulfils his desires.

O'Hara's Choice | In the years following America's terrible Civil War, the fate of the U.S. Marine Corps rests in the capable hands of Zachary O'Hara. A first-generation Irish-American and son of a legendary war hero, O'Hara is the one man who can prevent the dissolution of his father's beloved "Wart-Hogs," thereby ensuring his own future as a valuable member of this proud and vital branch of Brand: HarperTrophy.

O'Hara's Choice () A novel by Leon Uris After the Civil War, stalwart warriors struggle to keep the Marine Corps alive. This book was still "in production" (for lack of a better phrase) at the time of his death and it is all too apparent in the pages of O'HARA'S CHOICE; the characters are sparsely written, intense detail is uneven though the story and the overall "theme" of the novel-- a critical moment after the Civil War in the history of the Marine Corps-- is spotty and sometimes taken for granted.4/5(30).

A posthumous novel by Uris, who died, at 78, on J celebrates the Marine Corps, as did his first, Battle Cry, now marking its 50th anniversary. O’Hara's Choice centers on Marines who fought in the Civil War and clarifies how their spirit lives on: especially that of legendary Sergeant Paddy O’Hara, whose courage and élan reside in his son, Captain Zachary O’Hara.

Having read what i thought were ALL of Leon Uris novels, O'Hara's Choice has been a great surprise. Having served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict, this book has a very good insight as to how the Marine Corps evolved and the struggles it went through to establish a place in the history of America.4/5(25).

I just finished O'Hara's Choice. It's the first Uris novel I have read, and I found the way it ended pretty weird. While the book started slow, most of the book had a pretty consistent style that didn't make me think too hard to figure out what was going on - until the last chapter.

The book was a bit disjointed and superficial (unlike so many other Leon Uris books which I have really enjoyed.) My biggest complaints, however, were with the recording: 1)some sections seemed to be spliced in out of order--making things quite confusing and 2) on several occasions, I could hear someone laughing in the background.

O'Hara's Choice is the story of the inevitable collision of these two handsome, fighting spirits. Getting their souls' desire could jeopardize everything they -- and their parents before them -- scraped and struggled to achieve.

choice. And Amanda makes hers. It has been nearly a half-century since Leon Uris's first novel, BATTLE CRY. As with his other stories, O'HARA'S CHOICE is a historical epic laced with political overtones.

One is never left doubting which way the author leans on any one of a myriad of subjects. Uris can stuff more into pages than most authors can. O'Hara's Choice is the story of the inevitable collision of these two handsome, fighting spirits, in which getting their souls' desires could jeopardize everything they, and their parents before them, scraped and struggled to achieve.

A riveting, sweeping tale in inimitable Uris style, O'Hara's Choice is this master of the historical novel at his most brilliant.
